Arizona Weathering Services is an A2LA-accredited outdoor testing site located just
south of metropolitan Phoenix. We offer desert testing for a variety of industries
such as automotive, paint and coatings, building and construction materials, and
many more. Common standards for outdoor weathering include: ASTM G7, G24, D1014,
D4141.
Considered a benchmark for outdoor exposure testing, Arizona is one of the truly
unique places in the world receiving large amounts of continuous sunshine, little
rain, and low humidity. These conditions can be important factors in the weathering
or durability results of a particular product.
Direct vs. Glass – Specimens are exposed to the weather direct or behind glass. Backing - The proper backing material can have an important effect on results
• Unbacked – Typically signs, posts, fence, etc.
• Backed – Typically building products
• Expanded metal – Typically automotive
• Black Box – Typically automotiveExposure Angles
• 5° – Typically automotive
• 34°– Same as site latitude (highest accumulated radiant exposure)
• 45°– Most common exposure
• 90°– Vinyl siding and other building materials
• Variable angles – Angles change periodically over life of
